Episode 5 – The Demon House: Latoya Ammons' Real Exorcism Battle Against 200 Demons
About This Episode
In Episode 5 of Chasing the DARK, we dive into one of the most documented modern cases of demonic possession: the 'Demon House' in Gary, Indiana. In 2011, Latoya Ammons and her family moved into a rental home and soon faced swarms of black flies in winter, shadowy figures, footsteps from empty basements, levitating children, and what witnesses—including police and child services—described as full demonic possession. Rev. Michael Maginot performed multiple exorcisms, including three major rites authorized by the Diocese of Gary. This chilling story inspired Zak Bagans' documentary Demon House and Netflix's The Deliverance. We explore the evidence, skepticism, and paranormal terror.

Episode Description
What happens when darkness doesn’t just haunt a house… it claims a family? Discover the terrifying true story of Latoya Ammons and the Demon House – one of the most documented demonic possession cases in modern history.
In November 2011, Latoya Ammons moved her three young children and mother into a quiet rental on Carolina Street in Gary, Indiana, hoping for a fresh start. Instead, they encountered escalating supernatural terror: swarms of black flies in freezing weather, footsteps on empty stairs, doors slamming, and shadowy figures pacing rooms.
The horror intensified with the children: a 12-year-old girl levitating above her bed, a 9-year-old walking backward up a wall in front of witnesses including a DCS caseworker and nurse, guttural voices, unnatural strength, and descriptions of murder from unseen entities. Police Captain Charles Austin called it the strangest case of his career. DCS took temporary custody amid concerns, but official reports documented the phenomena.
Rev. Michael Maginot, after witnessing wet footprints and other signs, performed a minor exorcism and later three major rites (two in English, one in Latin) authorized by the Diocese. Clairvoyants claimed over 200 demons infested the home. After the rituals, the activity ceased, and the family reunited.
In this episode of Chasing the DARK, we explore:
- The obsessive escalation from flies to full possession
- Witnessed supernatural events and official investigations
- The exorcisms that ended the torment
- Legal, psychological, and paranormal perspectives on the case
This is a story of unrelenting darkness, family trauma, and the thin line between the explainable and the inexplicable—a reminder that some shadows refuse to fade.
Listener discretion is strongly advised: graphic accounts of possession, child endangerment, and disturbing phenomena.
